The looming mental health crisis for farmers
Mental health is a true concern for many Americans, but not many have it worse
than America’s farmers. American Farming has been on decline for a while now and
many are choosing to end their own lives in fear of looming financial disasters.
American farming is a long and complex industry with many political undertones.
Global trade dictates that there are those who can sell produce for a cheaper
rate than our farmers, as such Farmers work on very low margins. While we might
appreciate a drop in price for milk or for produce, it hurts our farmers dearly,
as their bottom line gets worse and worse. Many farmers are facing bankruptcy as
previous conditions like covid-19 and tariff disputes have only made their jobs
harder.
Many feel out of options
